Hadhramaut… Security Committee Acknowledges Citizens’ Suffering, Condemns Attempts to Destabilize the Region

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Security Committee of Hadhramaut Governorate affirmed its understanding of citizens’ anger over the deteriorating electricity services.
It called for restraint to deny what it described as “inciters of strife” the opportunity to sow discord, stressing its intensified efforts to resolve the crisis.
The committee added that the security forces and special units acted with a high sense of responsibility during the protests, which prevented any deaths or injuries. It denied reports circulating about human casualties.
The committee emphasized that “the people’s pain is our pain,” and called on scholars and community leaders to raise awareness among youth about the dangers of being drawn into destructive calls.
It stressed that government and service facilities, as well as security and ambulance vehicles, are red lines that must not be crossed.
It also pointed to unnamed parties obstructing the implementation of vital projects, including the oil derivatives refining unit at PetroMasila Company. It accused “malicious hands” of depriving power stations of the necessary fuel to operate.
The committee affirmed that the local authority is working diligently to find lasting solutions to the electricity crisis and urged all parties to unite in safeguarding Hadhramaut’s security and the interests of its citizens, while confirming that efforts to improve basic services are ongoing.
