Chinese Satellite Company Rejects US Accusations of Supporting Houthis
Yemen Monitor/Agencies:
Chinese satellite company Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co Ltd on Saturday rejected the United States’ claim that it supports the Houthis by providing them with intelligence, according to the Global Times newspaper.
This came after US State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce stated that Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co Ltd “directly assists Iran-backed Houthi group in Yemen by providing satellite imagery used to target US and international vessels in the Red Sea,” according to a Fox News report.
The company responded by rejecting the accusations, describing them as “completely fabricated and malicious slander,” and stated that it has no commercial ties with Iran or the Houthi forces, according to the Global Times.
“In our global operations, we strictly comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards both in China and internationally. With a mature business model and high-quality services, we are committed to contributing Chinese expertise and solutions to the advancement of the global remote sensing industry,” said the company.
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said earlier that “China plays a positive role in easing tensions” in the Red Sea, in response to the US accusations.
