The head of what was formerly known as the Southern Transitional Council (STC), whose dissolution has been announced, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, accused Saudi Arabia of overturning the partnership, signed agreements, and understandings reached among the parties during the events of January in Al-Mahrah and Hadramawt.
According to the STC’s official website, Al-Zubaidi chaired a virtual meeting with the newly appointed members of the council’s presidency on Monday.
During the meeting, participants warned what they described as “northern forces” against “the consequences of any aggression against the South, its territory, and its resources,” stressing that defending southern areas and safeguarding their security would remain the council’s and its military forces’ highest priority.
According to the Council’s official website, Al-Zubaidi stressed the continuation of raising military readiness and developing regional and international relations, urging the new Presidium members to redouble efforts and enhance communication to consolidate what he referred to as “Southern ranks’ unity.”
The meeting reviewed the latest political, military, and economic developments, as well as recent events in Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah. Al-Zubaidi reaffirmed the council’s commitment to the Southern National Charter and the decisions and declarations issued under it, while calling on the council’s forces to preserve what he described as the “achievements that have been made.”
