Yemeni Aviation Authority Obligates Airlines to Obtain Prior Permits to Enter Yemeni Airspace

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology in the temporary capital, Aden, announced on Saturday the issuance of a new circular obligating all airlines, international organizations, and flight operators to obtain a prior permit before entering the airspace of the Republic of Yemen.
The Authority stated that Circular No. (03-2026) dictates that no operating entity or air carrier will be allowed to enter Yemeni airspace until completing the permit procedures issued by the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Aden, in its capacity as the legitimate civil aviation authority in the country.
The Authority emphasized that requests for obtaining permits must be submitted through approved official communication channels, calling on all operators to adhere to the new procedures to ensure the regulation of air navigation and compliance with approved regulations.
It explained that the decision entered into force as of the date of its issuance on July 18, 2026, stressing the need for airlines and international organizations to abide by the instructions contained in the circular.
The circular comes within the framework of measures to regulate flight movement within Yemeni airspace following the incident of the Iranian aviation’s violation of Yemeni airspace and landing at Sana’a International Airport, which is under the control of the Houthis.
