Yemeni Oil Minister Inspects Aden Refinery And Affirms Efforts To Restart Operations

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Ministry of Oil and Minerals in the Yemeni government stated that Minister Muhammad Bamqa inspected the progress of work at the Aden Refinery Company on Thursday, as part of government efforts to rehabilitate vital facilities and support the national economy.

The Ministry added that Bamqa held a meeting with officials in the oil sector, including the Executive Director of the Yemen Petroleum Company, Tariq Al-Walidi, and the Acting Executive Director of the Aden Refinery, Saeed Muhammad, to discuss ways to activate the refinery’s role and restore its activity.

The statement quoted the Minister saying that restarting the refinery represents a “national necessity” to secure the local market’s needs for petroleum products and contribute to reducing reliance on imports in light of high global prices.

Bamqa pointed out that the government is working to overcome the difficulties hindering the resumption of production, praising the efforts of the refinery’s workers and emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to providing the necessary support to restart this vital facility.

Aden Refinery is one of the most prominent oil facilities in Yemen, as it played a pivotal role in supplying the local market with fuel before its operations were affected during the years of conflict.
