Al-Jawf: 7 Dead and Several Wounded in “Tribal Vendetta” Clashes

Yemen Monitor / Al-Jawf / Exclusive:

Seven people were killed and others injured during tribal clashes fueled by vendettas in the Bart district of Al-Jawf Governorate (northeastern Yemen) on the first day of Ramadan, sparking widespread condemnation among citizens.

Local sources told Yemen Monitor that clashes between tribal gunmen left seven dead and five wounded so far, stemming from old tribal feuds between the Al Jamil al-Makasir Dhu Muhammad tribe and the Al Abu Athwah Bani Hilal tribe. Both are tribes located in Bart al-Anan, northwest of Al-Jawf.

The sources identified the deceased as Abdullah Mansour al-Maksour and Ghaylan Mahdi al-Maksour from the Al Abu Jamil family. The fatalities from the Al Abu Athwah Bani Hilal family were identified as Mohammed Abdullah Abu Athwah, Hamza Abdullah Abu Athwah, Jalal Abu Athwah, Nasr Naji Hashfoul, and Mohammed Abdullah Khamis.

Under Houthi control, Al-Jawf is witnessing a rising resurgence of tribal vendettas amid security chaos. This incident follows the discovery of two bodies in the Al-Humaydat district just days ago. Activists from the governorate accuse the Houthis of igniting these feuds to keep the tribes preoccupied with internal conflicts.
