Yemeni President Arrives in Munich to Participate in the International Security Conference

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Yemeni President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in Munich, Germany, on Thursday to participate in the International Security Conference, which begins on Friday amid unprecedented global security, political, and economic challenges.
This year’s conference places special emphasis on the security of vital maritime corridors, particularly in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, in light of ongoing threats to global shipping and their impact on international peace and security.
The Yemeni president is scheduled to speak as a keynote participant in a panel discussion on maritime security, highlighting the continued threats posed by Houthi militias and affiliated terrorist groups, as well as the support needed to strengthen the Yemeni government’s capacity to address security challenges — foremost among them combating terrorism, smuggling, and cross-border threats.
During the conference, the president will also present the latest developments in Yemen, including positive transformations witnessed in the country with Saudi support, particularly in improving services, strengthening state institutions, and unifying security and military decision-making after years of division. He will also outline the vision of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government regarding the requirements for achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen and the region.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council will meet with several international leaders and officials to exchange views on shared challenges and to enhance regional and international cooperation in resolving conflicts and building peace and stability.
The Munich Security Conference is the largest annual event of its kind in the field of security policy worldwide, attended by heads of state and government, ministers of foreign affairs, defense, and interior, as well as representatives of the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Accompanying the president on his visit is Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency. He was received at Munich Airport by Yemen’s Ambassador to Germany, Louay Al-Eryani, the economic advisor to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and member of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce Abdulaziz Al-Mikhlafi, along with the consuls general and representatives of the Yemeni Embassy in Germany.
