Yemen Condemns “RSF” Crimes and Warns of the Danger of Arms Flowing to Militias

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Republic of Yemen expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the criminal attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in the sisterly Republic of Sudan. These attacks targeted the Al-Kowaik Military Hospital, a World Food Programme (WFP) relief convoy, and a bus carrying displaced persons, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries, including women and children.
Yemen announced its full solidarity with the government and people of brotherly Sudan during these difficult circumstances. It emphasized that targeting displaced persons and families fleeing the woes of conflict represents a war crime by all moral, humanitarian, and legal standards, and constitutes a direct assault on the rules protecting civilians and humanitarian facilities.
The statement stressed that the continued arming and support of militias operating outside national state institutions—enabling them to undermine the authority of legitimate governments—represents an imminent danger. This threat does not only affect the concerned countries but extends to regional and international peace and security, fueling cycles of violence, displacement, terrorism, and organized crime.
The Ministry stated that Yemen has had a “bitter experience with armed militias and coups against the state,” asserting that there is no path to lasting stability except by supporting legitimate state institutions, unifying regular forces under a single national authority, and halting all forms of political, military, or financial support for armed groups.
The Republic of Yemen called on the international community to fulfill its legal and humanitarian responsibilities, redouble efforts to protect civilians in Sudan, and ensure the unhindered arrival of relief aid in accordance with international and humanitarian laws. This includes the binding Jeddah Declaration for the protection of civilians in Sudan and serious work toward supporting a political path that preserves the unity, sovereignty, security, and stability of the brotherly nation.
