Chief of General Staff Discusses Strengthening Armed Forces Capabilities with French Ambassador

The Chief of General Staff of the Yemeni Army, Lieutenant General Sagheer bin Aziz, met today in Riyadh with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, and the French Military Attaché to discuss enhancing maritime security efforts and counter-terrorism.
The Chief of Staff reviewed the efforts of the Yemeni Armed Forces to maintain security and stability in the liberated governorates.
The meeting addressed strengthening military and security cooperation, fighting terrorism and smuggling, and coordination mechanisms to bolster maritime navigation security in the face of threats posed by the Houthi group—supported by the Iranian regime—to regional and global security.
The Chief of Staff expressed his aspirations to enhance the capabilities of the Yemeni army and improve the efficiency of forces in training, technical, and technological fields, as well as the exchange of expertise. He praised France’s positions in support of Yemen and its government, as well as the contribution of French forces in strengthening maritime security, combating smuggling operations, and intercepting shipments of support and weapons sent by Iran to the Houthi militias.
Additionally, the Chief of Staff expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the sincere fraternal positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in preserving Yemen’s unity, security, and stability, as well as their unlimited support.
