Hadramawt Tribal Alliance Rejects Political Settlements Not Recognizing Hadramawt as an Independent Party
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Hadramawt Tribal Alliance has announced its refusal to participate in any political arrangements based on the principle of “geographic parity” (50/50 split) between the North and the South. The Alliance asserted that Hadramawt must be treated as a third, independent party in any future political track or settlement.
In an official statement, the Alliance explained that this position stems from a commitment to preserving achievements that contribute to state-building, strengthening institutions, and consolidating security and stability. They emphasized the need for a fair partnership in political decision-making to prevent any single party from dominating the levers of the state.
The statement pointed to the importance of respecting national stances and the immense sacrifices made, stressing that current realities on the ground no longer allow for the continuation of arrangements based on North-South parity.
Hadramawt Tribal Alliance underscored that any political arrangements that fail to consider Hadramawt as an independent party “do not represent it and are of no concern to it,” reaffirming its adherence to Hadramawt ’s political rights and its status in any future political process.
