Yemeni Prime Minister Shay’a Mohsen Al-Zandani has instructed the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, local authorities, and relevant bodies in the targeted governorates to implement strict monitoring and governance mechanisms to ensure the integrity of procedures, distribution, and optimal use of the fuel derivatives grant. This is intended to ensure the grant is used for its designated purposes and to help alleviate citizens’ suffering.
Al-Zandani highly praised the generous and continued support of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the provision of a fuel derivatives grant worth USD 81.2 million to supply more than 70 power generation stations in the liberated governorates. He affirmed that this grant will contribute significantly to stabilizing the electricity sector and stimulating economic recovery.
The Yemeni prime minister emphasized the importance of coordination among the concerned entities to ensure the grant is implemented efficiently and transparently, in a way that positively reflects on improving basic services provided to citizens in the targeted areas.
A few days ago, the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen signed an agreement with Yemen’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy and the Yemeni Oil Company “PetroMasila,” aimed at purchasing fuel derivatives from PetroMasila to supply more than 70 power generation stations in Yemeni governorates.
According to a statement by the Saudi program, the total quantities of fuel derivatives amount to 339 million liters of diesel and mazut, with a total value of USD 81.2 million.
