Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Lieutenant General Mahmoud Salem Al-Subaihi, affirmed that “South–South” dialogue represents a fundamental entry point to strengthening national cohesion, addressing issues in a spirit of responsibility and partnership, and exploring fair solutions to the southern issue with the participation of all components.
This came during his meeting on Sunday with the United States Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin, in Riyadh.
The meeting reviewed prospects for strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, as well as developments related to normalizing conditions in the liberated governorates. Both sides also discussed progress made in consolidating security and stability, restoring institutional recovery, and improving public services for citizens.
The Presidential Council member expressed his gratitude for the U.S. positions supporting constitutional legitimacy and the aspirations of the Yemeni people to end the coup by the Houthi terrorist militias. The meeting stressed the importance of enhancing partnership in the areas of counterterrorism and cutting off its sources of funding, securing borders and land and sea ports, and tightening oversight to prevent the smuggling of Iranian weapons to the militias, in a manner that ensures stability for Yemen and the region.
