Socotra on the Verge of Resuming International Flights; Improvements in Supplies and Services

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Yemeni Minister of Information, Muammar al-Eryani, revealed the imminent resumption of international flights to and from Socotra Governorate starting in early February, following a long hiatus. This step is expected to facilitate movement and bolster commercial and tourism activities within the archipelago.

In statements posted Friday on his “X” platform account, al-Eryani explained that the governorate has recently witnessed a noticeable improvement in service sectors. This includes the arrival of a shipment of petroleum products via the first ship to dock on the island’s shores, which has helped provide domestic gas and alleviate the suffering of residents.

He also noted that the health sector in Socotra has received specialized support, marked by the arrival of expert medical teams at Hadibo Hospital. These teams have begun performing advanced surgical operations as part of efforts to enhance the level of healthcare provided to citizens.

Furthermore, he added that relief efforts are ongoing through an airlift to transport food aid to the island, as part of a plan aimed at supporting stability and improving living and humanitarian conditions in the governorate.
