Discussion of a Three-phases Plan to Move Military Camps Out of Aden

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The leadership of the local authority in the interim capital, Aden, discussed with the leadership of the Arab Coalition the establishment of executive mechanisms for moving and repositioning military camps outside the city’s urban areas. This move aims to enhance the civil character of the capital and consolidate its security and stability.

During a meeting that included the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh, along with the Commander of the Coalition Forces, Major General Falah al-Shahrani, and various security and military leaders, it was agreed that the evacuation process would be implemented in three consecutive phases. This will follow clear chronological and technical steps to ensure organizational goals are met without compromising security readiness.

According to reports published by the local authority in Aden, the plan aims to pave the way for restoring Aden’s leading status and opening the door for economic and investment projects that had been stalled due to the overlap between military and civilian zones.

The meeting emphasized that removing armed presence from the heart of residential neighborhoods is the fundamental guarantee for supporting development and improving the daily lives of citizens. The new repositioning sites will be announced later through the relevant official authorities.
