Minister of Interior Discusses Counter-Terrorism Support and Security Strengthening with U.S. Ambassador

The Yemeni Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, discussed today with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin, ways to support the Ministry of Interior and enhance joint cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism, contributing to the advancement of security and stability in the liberated governorates.

During the meeting, Minister Haidan reviewed the latest security developments and the Ministry of Interior’s role in confronting security challenges and consolidating stability. He pointed to the importance of continued international support, expressing appreciation for the US assistance provided to Yemen, particularly in security aspects and institutional capacity building.

For his part, the U.S. Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni government and its keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Interior to serve counter-terrorism efforts and support stability.

This meeting comes following the implementation of the military camp handover process, which involved the military deployment of the “Nation’s Shield” forces under presidential directives and Saudi support in the eastern and southern governorates, ousting the UAE-backed forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
