Governor of Hadramawt Announces Control Over the 37th Brigade Camp and Calls for Withdrawal of STC Forces

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Governor of Hadramawt Governorate and the General Commander of the Homeland Shield Forces in the governorate, Salem Al-Khanbashi, announced the control over the 37th Brigade camp in the Al-Khash’ah area, as part of what he described as the process of taking over camps in Hadramawt.

Official media outlets quoted Al-Khanbashi as calling on the remaining forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to withdraw from military positions, urging the avoidance of bloodshed and the preservation of the security and stability of the governorate.

This comes amid violent clashes erupting in Wadi Hadramawt between the Saudi-backed Homeland Shield Forces and the UAE-backed STC forces, coinciding with intensive airstrikes carried out by the Saudi Air Force targeting positions belonging to the STC forces.

Governor Al-Khanbashi had earlier announced the launch of the camps takeover operation, emphasizing that this operation is not offensive but a preventive measure aimed at protecting Hadramawt and enhancing its security and stability.

It is worth noting that the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council had tasked Salem Al-Khanbashi with assuming the general command of the Homeland Shield Forces in Hadramawt Governorate and granted him all necessary military, security, and administrative powers to carry out his duties.

This escalation coincides with the announcement by the spokesperson for the Arab Coalition that the Royal Saudi Naval Forces have completed their deployment in the Arabian Sea to carry out inspection and anti-smuggling tasks.
