Presidential Advisor: Impending Decisions and Sanctions Against Officials Who “Supported the Mutiny”

Yemen Monitor / Riyadh / Exclusive:

The advisor to the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Engineer Badr Basalamah, revealed a package of decisions to be issued by the Council in the coming hours. These include sanctions against figures involved in undermining state institutions.

This disclosure follows a coalition airstrike at the Mukalla port in Hadramawt, which targeted “military support” from the UAE intended for the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is seeking to declare secession.

Basalamah confirmed that the Council is prepared to issue a set of decisive resolutions within the next two days. He explained that these decisions would include specific sanctions on individuals who provided support to the STC and stood against the official legitimacy of the state.

Basalamah indicated that these moves are part of a broader set of measures aimed at “correcting the situation properly,” restoring the prestige of the state, and reclaiming its institutions in liberated areas. He emphasized that the Yemeni leadership is determined to address the imbalances that have led to instability.

The report notes that several officials, including ministers and governors, have recently released televised statements declaring their support for the STC’s actions and calling for the secession of Southern Yemen—specifically the declaration of the “State of South Arabia” based on the pre-1990 borders.
