Authorities of 12 Yemeni Governorates Renew Their Commitment to Legitimacy and Support Decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council

Yemen Monitor / Marib / Exclusive:

The local authorities of 12 Yemeni governorates announced on Tuesday the renewal of their full commitment to constitutional legitimacy and their absolute support for the decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council, led by Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi. They stressed that national unity is the only path to ending the coup and restoring the state institutions that have been seized.

The joint statement, a copy of which was obtained by Yemen Monitor, was issued by the local authorities of the governorates of (Amanat Al-Asimah [the Capital Secretariat], Sana’a, Ibb, Al-Bayda, Al-Jawf, Al-Hodeidah, Hajjah, Dhamar, Raymah, Saada, Amran, and Al-Mahwit).

The statement affirmed that the authorities are closely following developments on the national scene and declared their full endorsement of the orientations issued by the supreme political leadership aimed at protecting sovereign decision-making and unifying the republican ranks.

It emphasized that rallying around constitutional legitimacy and the Presidential Leadership Council represents “the only lifeline” for imposing state authority and achieving the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security and stability. The statement warned against any political rivalries that could serve “projects of chaos and subservience to the Iranian project” in the region.

In their statement, the leaders of the local authorities praised the pivotal and historic role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman—in supporting the Yemeni people militarily, politically, and humanitarianly, describing Saudi positions as an impenetrable fortress against attempts to strip Yemen of its Arab identity.

The 12 governorates concluded their statement by affirming their full commitment to institutional work and continuous coordination with the political leadership, placing service to citizens and the strengthening of security and social peace at the top of their priorities, leading toward the restoration of the state and the building of a safe and stable Yemen.

This collective statement comes from governorates whose administrative centers are mostly under the control of the Houthi group, in a political move aimed at affirming the legal legitimacy of these authorities (affiliated with the internationally recognized government) and rejecting de facto authorities, amid attempts by the Southern Transitional Council to impose de facto control in the governorates of Hadramowt and Al-Mahra.
