On the Anniversary of Its Popular Uprising, Hadramawt Reaffirms Commitment to Self-Rule and “Holding Conspirators Accountable”

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Sheikh Amr bin Habrish Al-Alili, head of the Hadramawt Tribes Alliance, said the governorate’s cause has reached a decisive stage, stressing that victory is not merely a matter of time but the outcome of mounting political and social challenges.

He made the remarks during a speech marking the twelfth anniversary of the launch of the Hadrami Popular Uprising, coinciding with celebrations by the tribal alliance of Hadramawt National Day, held in the city of Ghayl Bin Yamin.

Bin Habrish noted that despite the challenges facing Hadramawt, it has achieved major gains thanks to public awareness and social cohesion. “Strength does not lie in military convoys or misleading media narratives,” he said, “but in results on the ground—and today, those results are in favor of the Hadramawt project.”

He added that Hadrami public awareness has evolved significantly, pointing to a fundamental shift in demands. “In the past, we said we wanted to protect Hadramawt’s resources. Today, the demand is to protect private property that has not been spared by them,” he said, noting that this shift reflects growing popular awareness of land and property rights.

He stressed that anyone who practices violence or threatens stability does not represent a political project. “Those who engage in sabotage and killing cannot be partners in building a state,” he said, describing their presence in the governorate as “zero,” and arguing that this demonstrates the bankruptcy of their justifications.

Bin Habrish said Hadramawt remains committed to the agreement signed with the local authorities and to the regular forces represented by the Hadramawt Protection Forces. He praised the role of local mediators in reaching this understanding and thanked Saudi Arabia for its political and media support, describing its stance as inspiring and influential in bringing the Hadrami cause to international attention.

He reaffirmed Hadramawt’s insistence on the principle of self-governance, noting that the people of the governorate are more united than ever. “Holding firm on the ground is the constant principle,” he said. “There is no room for retreat or for relinquishing rights.”

He concluded by warning that anyone who has conspired against Hadramawt or betrayed the nation’s values and the principles of alliances “will be held accountable and brought to justice under the law,” stressing that victory is not far off and that Hadramawt, having overcome difficult stages before, will emerge from this phase victorious as well.
