Yemen Gas Company Warns of Imminent Crisis, Calls for Urgent Action to Lift Tribal Blockade

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Yemen Gas Company (YGC) has issued a stark warning regarding an impending fuel crisis caused by an ongoing tribal blockade targeting gas tankers in Marib Governorate, calling on local and security authorities to intervene immediately to clear the obstructions.

In an official statement, the YGC emphasized that the disruption threatens to cut off domestic gas supplies and undermines market stability during a period of rising demand, significantly increasing the suffering of citizens.

To mitigate the shortage caused by the bottleneck at the Safer production facility, Executive Director Mohsen bin Waheet announced the dispatch of 461 tankers to the temporary capital, Aden, and other liberated provinces—a quantity sufficient to fill approximately 1.8 million cylinders.

Furthermore, the company has convened emergency meetings to implement a contingency distribution plan and tighten oversight on retail agents to ensure gas reaches the public at official prices, while reiterating its plea for security units to provide safe passage and protection for the tankers to prevent a total supply collapse.
