Hadramawt Tribal Alliance: “STC” Forces Storm Mukalla Hospitals, Abduct Wounded

Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom:
The Hadramawt Tribal Alliance has condemned what it described as a “serious violation” committed by forces affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC). The incident occurred after these forces stormed hospitals in the city of Mukalla last Tuesday, December 9, 2025, and transported a number of wounded individuals who were receiving treatment to an unknown location.
According to a statement issued by the Alliance, among the wounded who were abducted were two members of the Hadramawt Protection Forces, Walid Omar Barshid and Abdullah Awad Barshid, along with others. The Alliance deemed the incident a “violation of humanitarian laws and tribal norms that prohibit assaulting the injured.”
The Alliance held the commander of the Second Military Region and the Director of Security for the Hadramawt Coast fully responsible for the safety of the wounded. It indicated that what happened represents “a new link in the chain of violations” to which the people of the province are subjected, according to the statement’s wording.
Hadramawt Tribal Alliance called on local and international human rights organizations, including concerned United Nations bodies, to document the incident and take urgent action to ensure the release of the wounded and hold the involved parties accountable.
The Alliance confirmed that it is in the process of taking steps “to protect the rights of the people of Hadramawt and defend them,” reiterating its rejection of any practices that target residents or undermine their security and stability.
