Mounting Fears for the Life of Lawyer Sabra Detained by Houthis After Isolation and Visit Ban

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties announced receiving an urgent appeal from the family of lawyer Abdulmajeed Sabra, who has been detained by the Houthi group for 76 days since his abduction from his office on September 25, 2025.

The organization stated in a press release that Sabra’s family informed them that they had received a brief call from him during which he reported being subjected to new punitive measures inside his detention facility. These measures include his isolation in a solitary cell and a ban on visitation, which has led to a deterioration of his health, according to the family.

SAM holds the Houthi group responsible for lawyer Sabra’s safety and called for his immediate release, enabling him to communicate with his family and lawyer, and providing the necessary healthcare.

The organization also appealed to the United Nations and relevant international bodies to take urgent action to ensure his protection and put an end to the violations he is being subjected to.
