Coinciding with Guterres’s Visit… Muscat Hosts Talks on Prisoner Exchange in Yemen

Yemen Monitor Newsroom:

The Omani capital, Muscat, is preparing to host a crucial round of negotiations aimed at agreeing on mechanisms for the release of all detained, abducted, and imprisoned Yemenis held by all parties, based on the principle of “all for all.”

These negotiations come amid intensive international diplomatic movements. UN spokesperson Farhan Haq announced that UN Secretary-General António Guterres will visit the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the near future to discuss developments in southern Yemen.

In his daily briefing, Haq stated, “During his visit, the Secretary-General will discuss the latest developments concerning southern Yemen,” emphasizing the United Nations’ commitment to preserving Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Diplomatic sources have confirmed that these talks in Muscat represent a significant step towards de-escalating the tense situation in Yemen, particularly regarding the rights of detainees, reflecting international efforts to achieve stability and peace in the country.
