UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Hamish Falconer, affirmed his country’s strong commitment to supporting the Yemeni government, emphasizing that the United Kingdom stands by the government and continues to support serious reforms.
This came during a discussion session held on Tuesday in Aden with the Yemeni Prime Minister, Salem bin Briek, to discuss strategic partnership files and economic reforms.
Falconer stated that his presence in Aden sends a clear message of the UK’s appreciation for the government’s determination to implement reforms. He pledged continued support for the economic recovery plan, administrative and financial reform efforts, and ongoing backing for Coast Guard capabilities to enhance international maritime security and combat smuggling.
For his part, the Prime Minister welcomed the British support, affirming that the government is proceeding with implementing a comprehensive package of reforms aimed at addressing imbalances and combating corruption, alongside preparations for the first National Energy Conference and the Health Donors Conference.
Both sides also emphasized their commitment to enhancing the bilateral partnership and intensifying coordination to support the government in its reform track and achieve stability and recovery in Yemen.
