Yemeni Defense Ministry Announces Start of Salary Disbursement, Wounded Association: “One Salary Won’t Stop Our Protests”

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Social Welfare Department of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense announced today, Tuesday, the start of disbursing the July 2025 salaries for the martyrs and wounded personnel through Al-Kuraimi Islamic Microfinance Bank in the governorates liberated (from the Houthis), following a wave of protests and sit-ins by wounded soldiers in Marib and Taiz.
The department confirmed that the disbursement process will take place directly through the bank accounts of the agents who have completed the account opening procedures and whose data matches the records at Al-Kuraimi Bank. The salaries will be deposited directly into their accounts.
It clarified that for agents who have not yet opened bank accounts or sent their account details to the department, their salaries have been sent as money transfers that can be received from any Al-Kuraimi Bank branch using the agent’s personal ID card.
The department also urged beneficiaries to utilize the ATM withdrawal service to ease congestion at bank branches and ensure a smooth disbursement process.
In its first comment, the National Association for the Wounded and Disabled in Yemen stated that many of the protestors affirm that the disbursement of only one salary increases their enthusiasm in clinging to their full rights and escalating their protest activities.
For nearly two weeks, wounded Yemeni army personnel in the governorates of Marib and Taiz have continued their protests, denouncing government neglect and demanding the settlement of their statuses, the disbursement of long-overdue salaries and entitlements, and the provision of necessary medical treatment amid official disregard.
