Saudi Demining Project “Masam” Destroys Stockpile of Landmines and Explosives in Marib

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Saudi Program for Landmine Clearance in Yemen, “Masam,” has announced the execution of a new operation to destroy a large quantity of landmines, shells, and unexploded ordnance in the Wadi district of Marib province.
The project detailed that the operation targeted anti-vehicle landmines, projectiles, and other war remnants. These hazardous items had been collected and cleared from contaminated areas over the past weeks by Masam’s field teams as part of their ongoing duties.
“Masam” continues to conduct these periodic destruction operations to ensure the safe disposal of dangerous materials, aligning with its sustained efforts to protect lives and provide a safe environment for civilians in liberated areas.
These destruction activities are a core part of “Masam’s” humanitarian commitment to mitigating the impact of landmines and war debris and preventing further casualties from these weapons, which threaten the lives of populations across several Yemeni governorates.
“Masam” project is one of the initiatives run by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief). It focuses on clearing landmines planted by the Houthi group in Yemeni territories and operates in areas under the control of the internationally-recognized government.
