Yemeni Interior Minister: Saudi Arabia Keen on Enhancing Our Security Capabilities… Houthi Threats in Red Sea Have Become “International”

Yemen Monitor / Riyadh / Exclusive:

Yemeni Interior Minister Major General Ibrahim Haydan confirmed on Sunday that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen to support and enhance the capabilities of the Yemeni Interior Ministry, noting that this support aims to achieve regional and international security in light of current challenges.

Minister Haydan emphasized that the threats posed by the Houthis in vital waterways are no longer confined to the regional sphere alone but have transformed into an “international threat” that requires concerted efforts.

This came in statements by Minister Haydan to “Al-Hadath” channel, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi side, which was followed by Yemen Monitor.

Major General Haydan clarified that the memorandum of understanding signed with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aims to support building the capabilities of the Yemeni Interior Ministry in the security aspect. He pointed out that this technical support will help achieve security for Yemen, the region, and the world, stressing that security is no longer an issue for a single country but has become interconnected, encompassing national, regional, and international security.

Haydan indicated that the efforts to enhance the Ministry’s capabilities specifically aim to achieve regional and international security, given the increasing danger posed by Houthi threats. He stated that the threats launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea “have undoubtedly transformed into an international threat,” not just a regional one.

The Minister affirmed that Saudi support for Yemen at this stage comes from a keenness to enhance the security capabilities of the Interior Ministry, and that this includes modernizing the Ministry’s infrastructure to enable it to keep pace with the current and future phase.
