Coast Guard Seizes Smuggling Boat Carrying 41 African Migrants Off Bab al-Mandab

The Coast Guard Authority, affiliated with the internationally recognized Yemeni government, successfully seized a small boat carrying 41 migrants from African countries in the Bab al-Mandab Strait in southwestern Yemen.

In an official statement, the Authority indicated that the boat was carrying 15 women and 26 men, in addition to a captain from Djibouti and two Yemenis.

The statement clarified that the boat was equipped with a 40-horsepower Daihatsu engine, and the migrants were provided with initial care immediately upon being apprehended.

Those involved in the smuggling of the migrants have been referred for investigation to complete the necessary legal procedures.

The Coast Guard Authority affirmed its continuous commitment to combating smuggling networks and organized crime, and protecting Yemeni coasts from illegal activities that pose a threat to maritime and humanitarian security in the region, according to the official Yemeni News Agency.
