The governorates and areas liberated from the Houthis witnessed tragic traffic accidents last September that resulted in the deaths of 59 people and injuries to 340 others, including 170 serious injuries. Material losses reached approximately 165 million riyals.
A traffic statistic showed that the total number of accidents during the month reached 369 incidents, including 213 vehicle collisions, 101 pedestrian run-overs, and 44 vehicle rollovers, in addition to incidents of falling from cars, hitting fixed objects, and one incident of a car colliding with an animal.
During September, traffic police branches in the liberated governorates also recorded 8,030 traffic violations, which included exceeding rules and regulations, obstructing traffic, and compromising road safety. These violations pose real risks to road users and could lead to future accidents.
The statistic emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic signals and laws to reduce accidents and protect lives and property.
