SADA Condemns Al-Iryani’s Abduction and Demands His Immediate Release

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The National Organization of Yemeni Journalists (SADA) has condemned the abduction of Yemeni writer and blogger Auras Al-Iryani by the Houthi group in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a.
In a statement, SADA affirmed that the abduction is a blatant violation of freedom of opinion and expression and a serious assault on the rights and freedoms guaranteed by national laws and international conventions.
Al-Iryani’s sudden disappearance occurred last Tuesday night. His phone was turned off and all contact was lost, while his personal Facebook page also became inactive, raising concerns for his safety.
The organization holds the Houthi group fully responsible for Al-Iryani’s safety and demands his immediate and unconditional release.
SADA also called on local and international human rights and media organizations to condemn these violations and pressure for Al-Iryani’s release and to halt the systematic targeting of Yemeni journalists.
