Sources: Assassination of Houthi Government Officials in Israeli Airstrikes

Yemen Monitor / Sanaa / Exclusive:

Multiple sources reported on Thursday that Israeli airstrikes targeted a meeting of officials from the Houthi (unrecognized) government in the capital, Sanaa, killing several leaders, including Prime Minister Ahmed Ghalib al-Rahwi.

The strikes came after Israel approved a plan for assassinations in Yemen, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

Sources told Yemen Monitor that the airstrikes hit “Bayt Zabara” residence on Iran Street in southern Sanaa.

Other sources said the meeting was not military in nature but rather included government officials who had gathered in (qat-chewing gathering) session to listen to the Houthi leader’s speech that afternoon.

According to the sources, several other officials were also killed in the attack.

A member of al-Rahwi’s family confirmed to Yemen Monitor the death of the Prime Minister, marking a major blow to Houthi authority in Sanaa.

This development comes amid escalating hostilities between the Houthis and Israel.

The Houthis have not yet commented on the latest reports, though earlier they said that the recent Israeli strike had targeted civilian areas in Hadda and near the Presidential Palace.
