Hadhramaut Authorities Respond to Bahsani’s Accusations Regarding Brigadier General Al-Yemeeni Case
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The local authority in Hadhramaut has strongly denied what it described as “false accusations” made by Presidential Leadership Council member, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, regarding the arrest of Brigadier General Mohammed Omar Al-Yemeeni, Chief of Staff of the Second Military Region.
A senior official in the local authority stated in a press release on Wednesday that the allegations posted on Al-Bahsani’s official page are completely unfounded, affirming that the local authority was not involved in the case, which it described as a purely military matter under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense and Military Intelligence Headquarters.
The local authority expressed surprise at such remarks coming from a senior state official, calling the attempt to implicate them in the case “fabricated claims and irresponsible statements”—especially given that the accusations came over four months after Brigadier Al-Yemeni’s arrest, during which Al-Bahsani made no official comment until his recent release.
The authority emphasized that Brigadier Al-Yemeeni is a respected military and social figure in Hadhramaut and that what happened to him is treated with full respect. However, it stressed that his arrest and release were carried out solely through the relevant military authorities, without any involvement from the local authority.
It’s worth noting that Faraj Al-Bahsani recently met with Brigadier Mohammed Omar Al-Yemeeni, who had reportedly been abducted, according to media reports.
During the meeting, Al-Bahsani accused the Hadhramaut local authority of fabricating charges against Al-Yemeeni, prompting the local authority’s response.
Since joining the STC—which advocates for the secession of southern Yemen from the north—Al-Bahsani has become a political rival to the Hadhramaut local government.
