Hadramout Coast Guard Rescues Three, Continues Search for Missing Persons

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
Hadramout Coast Guard evacuation and rescue teams saved two young men from drowning in separate incidents off the coasts of Al-Shihr and Sharma on Thursday. Meanwhile, intensive search operations have been ongoing since the morning for two brothers who went missing off the coast of Burum, following the discovery of their third brother’s body at the scene.
A statement from the Coast Guard operations room clarified that the three brothers — all from Marib governorate — were involved in a mass drowning incident while swimming in an unauthorized area off the Burum coast. One body was recovered, but rescue efforts are still underway amid challenging marine conditions, including rough waves and strong currents, which are hindering the search.
In a separate incident on Wednesday evening, rescue teams successfully saved an elderly man from drowning in the Khalaf area of Mukalla. This rescue followed a rapid response to an emergency call received at 10:30 PM. A successful retrieval operation was carried out, and the man received first aid at the scene.
Ongoing search operations involve land and sea patrol units, divers, and marine search teams, alongside official calls for caution.
The Coast Guard’s Moral Guidance Office reiterated its appeal to citizens and visitors to stay away from dangerous locations and adhere to maritime safety guidelines. It emphasized that prevention begins with awareness and that while rescue teams are exerting maximum effort to protect lives, they rely on everyone’s cooperation to avoid recurring incidents.
