Four Family Members Killed by Flash Floods in Central Yemen

Yemen Monitor – Ibb – Exclusive:

A tragic incident occurred in Ibb governorate on Thursday, where four members of the same family lost their lives due to heavy rainfall in the city of Ibb, central Yemen.

Local sources reported that a husband, wife, and their two daughters were killed when torrential floods swept away the vehicle they were traveling in through the Al-Mashannah valley. Remarkably, one child survived the incident.

Footage and images circulating on social media showed the intensity of the floods that overwhelmed the valley and carried the vehicle with the family inside. Residents have since called for intensified efforts to locate any missing persons.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Yemen’s Civil Defense Authority renewed its warning to citizens and drivers not to risk crossing valleys, flood zones, or waterways during or after heavy rain, stressing the importance of preserving lives and safety.

The authority also urged the public to follow official guidelines and instructions, especially amid ongoing weather instability and continued rainfall across several Yemeni provinces in recent days.
