Taiz Axis: Children’s Deaths in Al-Arsoum Caused by Old Houthi Projectile

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The leadership of the Taiz Axis has categorically denied the Yemeni Army’s responsibility for the tragic incident that claimed the lives of five children in the Al-Arsoum area. They affirmed that the incident resulted from the explosion of a projectile—a remnant of war left behind by the Houthi group in residential areas.
A statement issued by the Axis leadership on Saturday described claims by Houthi media about a mortar shell falling from national army positions onto a neighborhood near Al-Noor Mosque as “false allegations.” The statement emphasized that the army forces did not conduct any military operations or use weapons in that sector on Friday.
The statement clarified that the child victims had found remnants of an old Houthi projectile and attempted to tamper with it, which led to its explosion and their deaths. It further stated that the Houthi militia bears full responsibility for the incident, both for leaving war remnants in residential neighborhoods and for their attempts to exploit the blood of innocents in propaganda campaigns.
The Taiz Axis also reiterated its call for international and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities in documenting these crimes and exposing the Houthis’ practices, which it said do not hesitate to use children and civilian areas as human shields in blatant violation of all humanitarian laws.
