UN Mission Reports Decrease in Mine-Related Casualties in Hudaidah

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaidah Agreement (UNMHA) announced a significant decrease in mine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) related incidents in Hudaidah governorate during June. Only one incident was recorded, resulting in one civilian injury in Hays district.

In an official statement, UNMHA clarified that while the number of casualties has dropped compared to May, landmines and UXO continue to pose a serious threat to civilian lives in various parts of Yemen.

The mission urged residents to exercise extreme caution when moving through affected areas. It also emphasized the critical importance of continuing mine clearance operations and raising community awareness about these dangers to ensure civilian safety.

UNMHA sources affirmed that these efforts are a fundamental pillar in achieving security and stability in Hudaidah, especially amidst the ongoing security challenges facing the governorate.
