Hadramawt: PetroMasila Workers’ Union Stages Protest Demanding Legitimate Rights

Yemen Monitor | Newsroom:

The Workers and Employees Union of PetroMasila, Sector 14, in Hadramawt Governorate, organized a protest at the field and the export terminal in Al-Dhaba, denouncing the company management’s ongoing disregard for their legitimate demands and the need to improve working conditions.

This protest marks the third escalation by the union, after previously suspending its movements at the formal request of the Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office in the governorate, in the hope of reaching solutions before the end of June.

Union spokespersons stated that the company’s management has failed to offer any tangible solutions despite being given ample opportunity. They confirmed that escalation efforts will continue until all demands are met.

Protesters carried signs calling for improved working conditions, salary increases, and an immediate response to the unresolved labor demands.

At the end of the protest, the union read a formal statement reaffirming the continuation of escalatory actions until their demands are fulfilled. The statement emphasized the need for the full disbursement of overdue financial entitlements and called for the union to be involved in all decisions related to workers.

The union firmly rejected any measures that would undermine workers’ rights or shift the burden of poor administrative policies onto employees.

The statement called on the government, local authorities, Hadramawt’s parliamentary bloc, and the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance to compel defaulting parties to fulfill their obligations to the company and to find fair solutions to workers’ demands.

The union expressed gratitude to the heroic workers who took part in the protest and to the honest media outlets that conveyed their message to the public.

The statement concluded by affirming the union’s commitment to continuing protest actions until all demands are fully met.
