Yemen Holds Lebanon to a Draw, Keeps Asian Cup Qualification Hopes Alive

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

In a hard-fought match in the second round of the final qualifiers for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, the Yemeni national team held Lebanon to a goalless draw on Tuesday evening at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait.

With this result, Lebanon raised its tally to four points, topping Group B, while Yemen earned its second point, remaining in third place and keeping its hopes alive for the group’s sole qualification spot.

In the other Group B match, Brunei secured a valuable 2-1 victory over Bhutan, raising its total to three points and moving into second place. Bhutan, meanwhile, remained at the bottom of the group with just one point.

Yemen had also played to a goalless draw against Bhutan in the opening round and is now preparing to face Brunei in the third round, where it will aim for its first win in the qualifiers to strengthen its chances of reaching the Asian Cup finals.

It is worth noting that only the top team in each group qualifies for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which is set to be hosted by Saudi Arabia.
