Yemen Coach: Ready to Overcome Lebanon, Our Goal is to Qualify for AFC Asian Cup 2027

The head coach of the Yemeni national football team, Algerian Noureddine Wald Ali, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure victory in the upcoming match against Lebanon, scheduled for Tuesday evening at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait. The match is part of the second round of the playoff qualifiers for the AFC Asian Cup 2027.

During a press conference held today, Wald Ali emphasized that the Yemeni team’s primary objective is to earn the full three points and top Group B, which also includes Bhutan and Brunei Darussalam.

He noted that the goalless draw in the previous match against Bhutan was due to difficult circumstances, but the team has learned from the experience and is focused on winning the next game.

The coach added that the Yemeni squad features a mix of domestic and professional players who have been well-prepared during a training camp in the city of Mukalla. He confirmed that all players are in good physical and technical condition, with no significant absences from the starting lineup.

For his part, Yemeni player Mohammed Hashem stressed the importance of the match against Lebanon, noting that the team fully understands the significance of the encounter and is determined to win to bring joy to Yemeni fans.

He also mentioned that the atmosphere in Kuwait is favorable and that the team has trained to adapt to various conditions.

It is worth noting that Yemen played its opening qualifier against Bhutan, which ended in a goalless draw.

The team now hopes to defeat Lebanon to strengthen its chances of qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia.
