Yemeni Coast Guard in Aden Launches Awareness Campaign to Reduce Drowning Incidents During Windy Season

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Coast Guard sector in the Gulf of Aden has initiated a field awareness campaign targeting beachgoers in the interim capital, Aden. The campaign aims to warn against the dangers of swimming during the windy season, which spans from July to September, when drowning incidents increase due to rough seas and high waves.

The Coast Guard explained that the campaign includes broadcasting warning messages via loudspeakers along the beaches, distributing awareness leaflets, and displaying videos and informational boards highlighting the dangers of swimming during this period of the year.

This initiative follows recent tragic incidents along Aden’s coast, including the discovery of an unidentified 18-year-old girl’s body off Goldmohr Beach, in addition to the recovery of two young men’s bodies who went missing while swimming at Lovers’ Beach.

Authorities urged citizens to adhere to the issued instructions and avoid swimming in dangerous times and locations to protect lives.
