Yemeni Nationality Committee Reviews 31 Applications for Citizenship

On Wednesday, the Yemeni Nationality Committee held its regular meeting for the year 2026 in the temporary capital, Aden. The meeting was chaired by the Ministry of Interior’s Undersecretary for the Civil Services Sector, Major General Abdulmajid Barak Al-Amri, with the participation of all committee members, to discuss applications for obtaining Yemeni citizenship and several files on its agenda.

During the meeting, the committee discussed 31 applications for Yemeni citizenship, which were examined and studied in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 6 of 1990 regarding Yemeni Nationality and its executive regulations. This was alongside reviewing the technical and procedural aspects related to the applicants’ files to ensure they meet the legal requirements.

The committee approved a number of recommendations regarding the submitted applications in preparation for raising them to the Minister of Interior, before forwarding them to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council to complete the constitutional procedures and issue final decisions regarding them.

During the meeting, the Committee Chairman, Abdulmajid Barak Al-Amri, stressed the Ministry of Interior leadership’s keenness to organize the procedures for receiving citizenship applications in accordance with the law, ensuring transparency and accuracy in studying the files. At the same time, he conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, to the committee members.

Al-Amri emphasized the importance of regular committee meetings to ensure a quick ruling on applications and to facilitate procedures for applicants looking to obtain identification documents. He called for strengthening the mechanisms for prior verification and review of files before presenting them to the committee, thereby contributing to expediting completion and achieving the committee’s objectives in accordance with the laws and regulations governing its work.
