Women of Taiz Protest to Demand Improved Basic Services

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
On Saturday, the Yemeni city of Taiz witnessed a large demonstration involving women from various social backgrounds.
The protesters demanded improvements in the quality of basic services, which have significantly deteriorated in recent times.
Participants carried signs expressing their frustration over the ongoing decline, particularly in the water and electricity sectors.
Some women carried firewood on their heads as a symbolic gesture highlighting the household gas crisis plaguing the city.
They also used another powerful form of protest by holding up empty water containers to draw attention to the severe water shortage.
The demonstrators held the Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and the local authorities directly responsible for the continued decline in services.
They pointed out that this deterioration has worsened the problems of poverty and unemployment afflicting the city.
