Yemen Welcomes Trump’s Decision to Lift Sanctions on Syria

Yemen welcomed US President Donald Trump’s decision to lift sanctions imposed on the Syrian Arab Republic, describing it as a positive step towards alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Syrian people and creating an environment to advance peace efforts.
The Yemeni Ministry expressed Yemen’s appreciation for the diplomatic efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that this initiative reflects the Kingdom’s leading role in promoting regional and international stability.
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry also reiterated Yemen’s firm and supportive stance for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of restoring the Syrian state’s role and institutions, in a way that fulfills the aspirations of Syrians for security, stability, and development.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump officially announced on Tuesday, from the Saudi capital, Riyadh, that he had decided to lift sanctions on Syria, after discussing the matter with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
During his speech at the Saudi-American Investment Forum in Riyadh, Trump said: “We will order the lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria to give them the opportunity they deserve. After discussing this matter with the Saudi Crown Prince, I will do anything he asks.”
Trump’s announcement of lifting sanctions on Syria was met with enthusiastic applause from Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the attendees at the investment forum.
