Houthi Health Officials: Two Killed, 42 Injured in Israeli Airstrikes
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom / Hudaidah :
Two Yemenis were killed and 42 injured on Monday in airstrikes carried out by Israeli forces targeting a cement factory east of Hudaidah province in western Yemen, according to Houthi health officials.
A local health official stated that the injured were transported to hospitals in the district and the city of Hudaidah.
The officials indicated that the casualties were civilians.
Israeli forces launched airstrikes using 30 fighter jets on Hudaidah port and Bajil district.
According to the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV, the Israeli airstrikes targeted the port and city of Hudaidah with six strikes, and the Bajil cement factory with seven more.
Israeli officials said that approximately 50 bombs and missiles were dropped on the two targets.
The Israeli government stated that the attack would not be the last. This comes after a Houthi missile landed in Tel Aviv on Sunday.
The Israeli military attempted to intercept a ballistic missile launched at Tel Aviv on Sunday but failed to shoot it down, resulting in a successful strike on a heavily fortified facility. This appears to be the first time the Houthis have successfully targeted Israel’s international airport.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a meeting of Israel’s Security Cabinet on Sunday afternoon to discuss the incident.
In a video posted on social media, Netanyahu said: “We have taken action in the past, and we will take action in the future as well.” He added: “I can’t go into all the details. The US, in coordination with us, is also acting against them. This will not end with a single strike.”
Israel has conducted multiple rounds of airstrikes in Yemen, including targeting a power station and seaports in January, and earlier in July. The U.S. military has also carried out broader strikes on targets in Yemen in recent months, aiming to weaken the group and disrupt Houthi attacks on U.S. Navy and commercial vessels operating in the Middle East.
