UKMTO: Houthis Detain Group of Commercial Vessels in Ras Issa Port, Western Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has announced that it has received several reports indicating that the Houthi group has detained a group of commercial vessels in the port of Ras Issa in Hodaidah, western Yemen.
The UKMTO stated that the de facto authorities in Hodaidah have refused to grant the ships permission to leave, while forcing them to move to the port’s berths by force.
The British authority pointed out that a warning shot incident was observed directed at one of the ships, and that armed individuals boarded another ship to force it to comply with the decision to prevent departure from the port of Ras Issa.
The Houthi group announced on April 17 that 80 people were killed and 150 others injured as a result of US airstrikes targeting facilities in the port of Ras Issa.
The US military announced at the time that it had completely destroyed the oil port.
The port is considered one of the vital facilities in Yemen and has been out of service following the US strikes, according to local media reports.
