Yemeni Government Discusses Economic Support with the IMF

The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Ghaleb, and Minister of Finance, Salem bin Brik, held a meeting with Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to a statement from the Central Bank, the meeting addressed the economic and political challenges facing Yemen, particularly in light of the deteriorating living and humanitarian conditions caused by limited resources and declining international aid.

The discussions also focused on ways to strengthen cooperation with the IMF, including the resumption of Article IV consultations to enable Yemen to benefit from the financial and technical support programs offered by the Fund.

Both parties affirmed their commitment to continuing consultations to overcome obstacles and achieve economic stability.
