Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has signed a $1 million grant agreement with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to help finance the construction, equipping, and operation of a Technical Education and Vocational Training Institute in the city of Al-Turbah, Taiz Governorate. The project is part of a financing partnership that also includes the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO).

According to a statement issued by the fund, the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the meeting of the heads of the Arab Coordination Group in Vienna, Austria. The agreement was signed by Acting Director General Waleed Al-Bahar and IsDB President Dr. Mohammed Al Jasser.

The project aims to support displaced and refugee families, as well as low-income residents in Al-Turbah, by providing vocational and technical training programs designed to enhance skills, improve employability, and raise living standards.

The institute will be built on a total constructed area of approximately 3,350 square meters and will consist of three floors, in addition to service facilities, supporting infrastructure, and landscaped green spaces.

According to the statement, the project is expected to take about 21 months to complete and reach full operational capacity. Once operational, it is expected to provide educational and training services to more than 13,000 students, including members of displaced and refugee families from various regions of Yemen.

The Kuwait Fund emphasized that the project forms part of its ongoing efforts to support key development sectors in Yemen, strengthen the capacities of local communities, and contribute to improving living conditions for the most vulnerable groups.
