Yemen Condemns Israeli Attacks on Lebanon and Calls for International Action to Stop the Aggressions

Yemen on Tuesday condemned the continuing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, saying they contribute to escalating tensions in the region and threaten regional security and stability. Yemen also called on the international community to take a firm stance to stop these repeated violations.
In a statement, Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, including the expansion of ground incursions into southern Lebanon, as well as attacks on civilians and violations affecting the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry said that the continuation of Israeli military operations further aggravates tensions in the region and threatens regional peace and security.
The ministry called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities and take the necessary measures to stop these repeated attacks, ensure respect for international law, and implement relevant international legitimacy resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
The statement also reaffirmed “Yemen’s steadfast support for the sisterly Lebanese Republic, its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”
On Monday, the UN Security Council held an emergency session at the request of France to discuss the rapidly developing military situation in southern Lebanon amid the ongoing Israeli ground advance and rising civilian casualties.
During the session, Martha Pobee, Assistant Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations, warned of the seriousness of the situation on the ground. She noted the continued advance of Israeli ground forces into Lebanese territory, alongside the expansion of attacks by Hezbollah into deeper areas of Israel.
The UN official stated that concerns are growing over the possibility of a wider confrontation between the two sides, while Israeli warnings to residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs continue. She also highlighted uncertainty surrounding the future of U.S.-Iran talks related to efforts to maintain the ceasefire.
Pobee explained that Israeli military operations included taking control of the Beaufort Castle, advancing beyond the Litani River, intensifying airstrikes on southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the outskirts of Beirut, and issuing urgent evacuation warnings to residents in areas south of the Zahrani River.
She further noted that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon had observed intense military activity north of the Blue Line. On May 30, UNIFIL recorded approximately 992 trajectories of Israeli projectiles—the highest level observed since the cessation of hostilities was announced on April 17.
