STC Leader Killed and Others Injured Following Armed Clashes in Southern Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A military leader affiliated with the dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC) was killed and several others were injured on Friday as a result of armed clashes that broke out in the city of Al-Habilayn, the center of Radfan District in Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen, according to local sources.
The sources stated that the confrontations resulted in the death of Adel Amis, an intelligence official in the STC-affiliated Fifth Support and Reinforcement Brigade, in addition to the death of at least one other person, while five people sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to information, the clashes erupted inside a restaurant in the city’s market following disputes among gunmen believed to be related to the distribution of weapons previously seized from various areas, including Aden and Hadramawt.
The sources indicated that the incident caused a state of panic among residents, especially since it occurred in a crowded area, prompting many shop owners to close their stores and citizens to stay in their homes until the gunfire ceased, before life gradually resumed.
No official statements have been issued yet by security authorities regarding the details of the incident or the measures taken against those involved.
