Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom:
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramawt, Salem Ahmed al-Khanbashi, issued a circular banning the carrying of weapons within the governorate, in a step aimed at enhancing security and stability and maintaining public tranquility.
Al-Khanbashi directed his circular to the commanders of the First and Second Military Regions, and the Directors General of Security and Police in the Coast, Valley, and Desert, emphasizing the necessity of raising readiness levels and taking measures to ensure the firm implementation of the decision.
The circular explained that the decision was based on the outcomes of the governorate’s security committee meeting, which discussed a range of issues and negative phenomena threatening the security and stability of society—foremost among them the phenomenon of carrying weapons and the danger it poses to lives, property, and public peace.
The Governor of Hadramawt stressed the importance of applying the decision to contribute to consolidating the pillars of security and stability and maintaining public safety, affirming that deterrent legal measures will be taken against violators.
He also emphasized that the military and security apparatuses bear a joint responsibility in implementing the decision, calling for enhanced joint coordination to ensure its objectives are achieved and to consolidate the state’s presence and prestige across the various districts of the governorate.
